Summary: Using one of the most powerful fans of its type (212 CFM) to increase the number of air exchanges, the Multi-Tech S5000 is capable of cleaning the air in rooms up to 650 square feet. As air is drawn through the unit, larger pollution particles are removed by a pre-filter, protecting downstream filters and operations in the process. Next, the air continues through a true, washable HEPA filter (rated 99% effective at 0.3 microns) where dust, dust mites, mold, fungi, allergens, and bacteria are removed. The air continues through an activated carbon filter, removing chemicals, gasses, odors, and cigarette smoke. Next, the air passes through a photocatalyst oxidation filter (also called a TiO2 filter), further reducing pollutants such as chemicals, bacteria, and odors. Finally, the air passes through a germicidal ultra violet area, killing micro organisms including germs, viruses, bacteria, and fungi (such as mold toxins) and exits the unit with trillions of ions created by its negative ion generator. The unit comes complete with an LCD display and control panel showing the unit's status at all times.


Noise Level: The powerful 212 CFM fan is fairly quiet at its highest setting and barely noticible at its lowest setting.


Maintenance: Maintenance of the Multi-Tech S5000 consists of washing the HEPA filter as necessary and replacing the remaining filters and the germicidal UV lamp on a yearly basis. The carbon filter, photocatalytic filter, and germicidal lamp's combined cost is roughly $77.
